NOTE:  All garbage stickers must be picked up and signed for by the registered property owner.

One sticker is required per bag of garbage.  The pink 2016 stickers can also be used in the month of January 2017.  After that point, any bags with pink stickers will not be picked up.

Residents are now permitted to put their recyclables out in clear plastic bags to prevent items blowing around in windy conditions.  Please do not put recyclables in opaque garbage bags.

Garbage and recycling must be at the curb by 7:00 a.m. each Tuesday for collection.

 

Curbside Garbage and Recycling Pick-up Service

The curbside garbage and recycling pick-up service will begin Tuesday, July 5th, 2016 for residences in the Local Urban District of Tyndall-Garson and Henryville.

Garbage bags will require stickers attached to them for pick-up.  Stickers have been mailed out June 3rd, 2016.  Each residence has been allotted 52 stickers for the period of July 5th to December 31st, 2016, equal to two bags per week.

SPECIAL SERVICE PROPOSAL – No. 16-02

FOR THE COLLECTION AND TRANSPORTATION OF GARBAGE
AND RECYCLABLE MATERIALS WITHIN THE
LOCAL URBAN DISTRICT OF TYNDALL-GARSON

Proposal of Service

The Rural Municipality of Brokenhead is proposing to establish a special service plan for the weekly collection and transportation of garbage and recyclable materials from all residential dwellings within the Local Urban District of Tyndall-Garson.

The special service plan will apply for the years 2016 to 2019, both inclusive.  Special service taxes will be based on an amount per parcel on all residential property within the Local Urban District of Tyndall-Garson.  To view a map of the Local Improvement District, click here.

 

Special Services Area of the Municipality

The special service tax will be charged on all residential properties that have dwelling(s) in the Local Urban District of Tyndall-Garson as described in Schedule “B”.  Vacant lots are excluded.  To view a list of effected properties, click here.

 

Estimated Cost of the Service

The estimated total cost of the service will be as follows:

Method and Rate of Calculating the Proposed Special Service Tax

The method of calculating the annual special service tax will be based on an amount per parcel according to the rate structure below:

The Council shall annually allocate any funds received in excess of its annual cost for the collection and transportation of garbage and recyclable materials in a designated reserve for environmental projects or programs as presented within the Rural Municipality of Brokenhead’s Annual Financial Plan.

The Council shall recovery any deficit of the special services tax from the annual Local Urban District of Tyndall-Garson municipal levy.
